Lakeside Corporation Acquired
In April 2009, Lakeside Corporation of Sitka, Alaska was sold to The North West Company. Lakeside had been a family owned company dating back to the 1950s. Lakeside’s acquirer is a $1.4 billion operation with 222 locations in 10 countries. Through its Alaska Commercial (ACC) subsidiary, the North West Company has operations in communities throughout Alaska. ACC was born in Sitka in 1867, just days before Alaska was transferred to American control. According to ACC’s President, the acquirer wants to continue the service that Lakeside has always provided to Sitka.
